Reviews
It's a cute family spot for Italian food on a street packed with tourist traps, a recommended place if you're thinking about going to a show nearby.
The restaurant is small and cozy, nothing splashy and the service is very attentive and friendly.
The menu is extremely small and limited, so make sure you check it before you go so you have options.
The food is nothing to write home about but it's okay, you will most likely enjoy it, just won't be impressed.
I have to highlight the mussels appetizer, they were juicy and the sauce was absolutely tasty (I mopped it out with the bread). The bolognese pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce is also pretty good. If you're a fan of calf liver (like I am) I can assure you you'll like this flavorful and tender one (it's hard to find a place that does it justice).
In an area that is flocked with tourists and people going to theaters, it's a place good enough to have an okay dinner at a reasonable price.
Was one of Nora Ephron’s favorites (I’m not usually one for a celebrity rec). We loved everything we had. Husband had Branzino and I had pasta. Small and cute. Menu changes regularly. Our server had been there for 10+ years. Likely to become a favorite soon.
Finding a good restaurant in NYC’s theatre district is, for some reason, not an easy task. Orso is a step above most of the pre/ post show restaurants, but not a standout in general NYC standards. We got the mushroom pizza to start and found it dry and basic. The pastas however were great. Perfectly al dente with the right amount of sauce. The roasted chicken was also good. For dessert our waiter recommended the tiramisu which we found too soggy and not impressive. All in all a very uneven dinner but still a good option when you think of the other options in that area.
One last note. We are in our mid 30s and were the youngest patrons there. Found that a bit odd.
A good location if you’re going to a play and want to have more than a quick bite for dinner beforehand. They were really good at getting the food out so people wouldn’t be late for their shows. The food is totally mediocre and totally adequate. My favorite thing was the spread that came with the bread. The mussels were juicy and tasty. The cheese on the caprese was not good at all and the pappardelle pasta was chewy. The space is small and cozy.
Quiet and discreet little Italian restaurant that I am in love with. This place has a wonderful atmosphere and the service was very attentive and pleasant. Their hours are more forgiving for late shows, but the food is some of the best you will get in Times Square/Theater District area. Another wonderful date spot.
Really solid gem on restaurant row. The food was good but not great. Mistacanza salads were very good and pasta was very solid. Had a wonderful wonderful server. So attentive and on top of things. Would definitely go there again. A very nice gem on Restaurant Row.
Lovely spot close to Times Square but feels far away from the hustle and noise. Our server was fantastic, and everyone made us feel welcome. Wonderful selection for everyone from a nine year old to an eighty year old. Don't miss the olive oil cake and the pictures of Orso, a street dog.
First stop in New York, I must say I've never had mozzarella di bufala quite like this! It's so soft and melts in your mouth. I got the pappardelle funghi for dinner and for dessert I tried the afogato it's espresso and vanilla gelato. Also the service was exceptional!
